In 1967, conservative, clean-cut, family friendly culture was officially replaced with psychedelic, rebellious, political, sexual youth during the famous “Summer of Love”.
An amendment was introduced to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 providing for the establishment and promotion of bilingual education programs. The goals of the legislation included the cultivation of ancestral pride among youngsters and the reinforcement of their native languages.
